10 - Minardi
Despite never really be successful, Minardi was great learning place for young, talented drivers. Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso started there.
Status : Currently known as Rapax Team in GP2
9 - Benetton
Benetton’s easy going style would be a burst of fresh air in the current F1 world.
Satus : Currently known as Team Lotus in F1
8 - Stewart GP
The last 100% new team to ever be successful, with a second place finish on its 5th race and a win on its 3rd year.
Status : Currently known as Red Bull Racing
7 - Toyota
A team with a budget as large as Ferrari, they would probably be doing great with today’s hybrid technologies used in F1.
Status : Toyota Motorsports GMBh facilities in Cologne are still in operation today. They do other stuff.
6 - Larousse
Nice liveries, baller engines and the last team to enter a car without an engine cover.
Current status : Folded
5 - Jordan
We all want to see the colorful Eddie Jordan at the helm of an F1 team. Jordan was always the “best of the others”, a serious team that could finish on podium and even win races
Status : Currently known as Force India
4 - Ligier
It’s a real shame that such a legendary team couldn’t survived. Ligier is the French Lotus, it deserves to be in F1
Satus : Bankrupt
3 - BMW
You can build the “Ultimate Driving Machine” while not being involved in F1, Sorry. Get your shit together and get back in F1, BMW.
Status : Currently known as Sauber F1
2 - Penske
The most iconic American racing team haven’t been seen in F1 since 1978. It’s time to come back.
Status : Indy, Nascar and whatnot. No F1.
1 - Tyrrell
Tyrrell was known to think outside of the box, and this thinking would be welcome in today’s F1. The Tyrrell name also carry a lot of equity in the F1 world, would be nice to have them back.
Status : Currently known as Mercedes AMG F1

11. Brawn F1
In the case that they do, they have to come back only for one year, rekt everyone, and then disappear

One hit wonder, TBH they were 25% Honda, 25% Mercedes and 50% blown diffuser

Minardi are Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Very true, good knowledgeable Sir.

Apparently having First National City Traveler’s Checks as a sponsor is bad luck...
I will NEVER use those travelers checks, personally.

I pay everything with travelers checks.
I love that shit.

Honda fucked up bad, the N/A V8s were all pretty much the same, and Brawn
was
the double/blown diffuser in 2009. No one could work it into their designs as well because his was built around the concept.

Can we add McLaren to this list? Supposedly they’re still there, but every time I check, their cars are sitting in the garade instead of on track. I’m fairly certain that McLaren’s been replaced by impostors.

Nononononononono, you got it all wrong. Ligier should not come back. Matra should come back. Or at least Matra power.

I blame Honda.
Honda lost its way.

#HamiltonsFault - They were doing so great until he left.

Ligier-Matra

Also, no Alfa, Maserati, or proper-Lotus?
![]() 10/20/2015 at 11:08 |

Sounds better now.

Alfa/Maserati would dilute Ferrari, they are the same company now.
![]() 10/20/2015 at 11:14 |

They were when Alfa was competing too, but only for a few years in the 80s before the Alfa F1 project was shut down.

The problem with Toyota was that they didn’t really care about Formula One. I say let them focus their energy on the WEC, they’re clearly doing a good job there.

Hesketh or GTFAC. Silly, silly, silly.
Silly.
Further silly.
Ridiculous.

Onroak brands their JS P2 as a Ligier

Instead of bringing the old teams how about if F1 just went back in time? So instead of the 2016 rule book for the next season we would get the 1976 rules. And six wheeler for one team would be mandatory.

I thought for sure McLaren would have made the list, they haven't been around since...wait, what? McLaren is still on the grid? With Honda? Wel that's a legendary pairing, surely they must be...huh? Back of the pack you say? Well. Weird.

The BMW team was Sauber long before BMW bought the team then sold it back to Peter Sauber after 5 years.
![]() 10/20/2015 at 12:50 |

Yes, we knew that. The fun thing is when BMW left they got stuck with the BMW names for a year, making it the BMW Team Sauber - Ferrari
![]() 10/20/2015 at 13:02 |

No Hesketh? Come on! And the grid would be a better place with Jordan on it.
![]() 10/20/2015 at 13:03 |

ahhh man, aero was so weird in the mid to late 2000’s...

Back when Haas was an F1 sponsor via its avocado brand, Hass.
![]() 10/20/2015 at 13:10 |

BMW went above and beyond that year

Brabham, which is actually trying to return.

IIRC they banned those vertical wings after 1 race. Then they started doing more traditional wings in the same spot which caught on and stayed there for a couple seasons

Totally agree.
